I know it's been awhile since you've heard from me and I apologize for the MIA status, but life got a bit crazy! I've been busy taking care of my girls, trying to win my Wife of the Year award (no breath being held), working at MFI, and...you guessed it - buying and renovating a home!
We are currently living with my parents in the Heights while our "new old home" is undergoing a complete overhaul. Our new nest is in the Memorial area and although it had great bones, you will see that it was in need of some serious TLC.
Luckily, I have my fellow MFI ladies to help me make design decisions and the incredibly talented construction team, Wiley Homes, LLC, to bring all of these visions to life. All in all, we thought you would enjoy following the total transformation our team is putting this house through.
So, without further ado, we begin the Before + After of "Swayze's New Old House"!
You'll be seeing lots of construction pics today, so please:
Here we go!
A small coat closet and narrow doorway into the rest of the house.
We opened up the entire entry space with an archway.
Formal Dining Room BEFORE
This is on your left as you enter our home.
Formal Living Room BEFORE
This is directly to the right when you walk through the front door.
This space will now serve as our formal dining room!
We also installed an entry/walk through to the bar and den area.
New lighting and crown molding will be added throughout the entire home. They didn't have a light source at all in the space above, and we all know that lighting is super important!
See that small eating area on the left? We are doing away with that altogether!
Instead, we will install a 7 ft. island with ample seating for informal dining.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any that are counter height versus bar height. Frustrating! I'm still on the hunt for the perfect chairs. Let me know if you have any fab suggestions!

So beautifully open!

Den and Entry/Stairwell BEFORE
The den under construction - lots of work to come!
This will serve as the master bedroom until we add a master suite on to the back of the home.
Picture seagrass flooring instead of paint and dust! :)
Benjamin Moore Sheep's Wool
Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover
Yes, I realize how similar they look here, but the difference is remarkable once applied to our walls. What's your preference, friends?
A few more pics from upstairs:
A cute bathroom for my girls.
Look how happy I am about the fact that I will soon be pulling down this wallpaper!
I'm going to work with the old school tile for now.
I like the idea of keeping a little bit of the old with the new.
A bedroom for the girls.
Again, imagine seagrass flooring! ;)
The closets are all super spacious which I love!
Finding the right organizational system to make them fully functional will be a fun task.
This is the hallway at the top of the stairs that leads to 3 of the bedrooms.
These floors will also be covered in seagrass.
We were hard at work over the weekend - more pics to come. Wish us luck!
